The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), part of the Tata Group, has reported a record profit of ₹1,603 crore in FY25. This marks a massive turnaround from a loss of ₹52 crore in FY17, showing 4.5 times growth over the past eight years.
IHCL is India’s largest hospitality company and owns well-known brands such as Taj, Vivanta, SeleQtions, and Ginger. The company runs luxury hotels, resorts, and new-age hospitality businesses across India and international markets.
Revenue for FY25 stood at ₹8,565 crore, more than double the ₹4,076 crore reported in FY17. EBITDA also rose sharply to ₹3,000 crore, compared to just ₹665 crore in FY17. The company’s cash position turned positive, with net cash exceeding ₹3,000 crore in June 2025, a major swing from a negative ₹3,100 crore in March 2017.
IHCL has also seen strong growth in its hotel portfolio. The company expanded from 150 hotels in FY17 to over 565 hotels by September 2025, with more than 57,000 rooms across 200 locations. It opened 26 new hotels in FY25 and signed 74 new properties, highlighting the pace of its expansion.
Looking ahead, IHCL has launched its “Accelerate 2030” strategy to keep up the momentum. The plan focuses on three areas – Excellence in Operations, Expansion of Portfolio, and Evolution of Brandscape. By 2030, IHCL aims to have over 700 hotels, achieve more than ₹15,000 crore in revenue, and deliver a return on capital employed above 20%.
The company is also focusing on sustainability through its “Paathya” program. Initiatives include saving over 600 tons of plastic by using glass bottles, recycling water, and installing electric vehicle charging stations across hotels. IHCL has set a goal to recycle 100% of water and eliminate single-use plastics by 2030.
With India projected to become the world’s third-largest economy by 2030, tourism is expected to play a major role in growth. IHCL, already the industry leader with strong brands and operations, is positioning itself to capture this opportunity.
